Review of The Untouchables (1987) by Gary C — 31 Dec 2010
From the music at the intro, I was sold. Everything about the movie was done almost perfectly. The acting was great, the cinematography was all beautiful. And the music of course was brilliant. These three things together are the main things that were used to help build suspense so well.
There could be long moments where nothing was happening, but the whole time, I couldn't keep my anticipation at bay. Another prominent element was the homages to old west cowboy movies. The heroes of the movie were very clearly modern cowboy figures.
With their determination to do what is right, regardless of the law. They carry their guns and they go take down the criminal in the most effective way instead of the most legal way. The question this movie brings up is, is it okay to do that? Are these men truly moral, or did they abandon their morals when they abandoned the law in order to uphold it?
