Review of The Untouchables (1987) by Gavin D — 04 Sep 2012

There is little to find fault with in this movie. If you can find something, then I most likely don't want to hear about it. The soundtrack alone is worth watching the movie, but add in stellar performances from all of the cast members, and even a slightly bloated performance from Robert De Niro as Capone is forgivable.

There is truly great filmmaking at work here and do we really even need to discuss the Battleship Potemkin Odessa Steps scene in the train station? The suspense is perfectly built, the shootouts are memorable and if you say you didn't cheer when Frank Nitti found his way into a car roof, you're lying, or you simply haven't seen it.
