De Palma gains a lot of attention as a boundary pusher and a visual stylist, but he does not get a lot of credit for being an entertainer in the most traditional Hollywood style. I think that's one of his strongest characteristics, and "The Untouchables" is a masterpiece of storytelling in big, broad Hollywood strokes.
I think it's his best film.
