Review of The United States of Leland (2003) by Michael M — 28 Jun 2007
This flick was...interesting. I didn't think it was bad. The acting was great. Ryan Gosling was perfect as the weird thought-provoking Leland. Kevin Spacey plays a total creep and is so great as one.
My only qualm about this movie was the build-up to the end. I kept getting a sense that this movie had a bigger picture that the filmmakers were waiting to drop on me, like some big moral or something, but the movie just ended by going full circle to where it began.
I thought there would be some great message like "American Beauty" or "American History X" but it just never happened.
