Review of The United States of Leland (2003) by James J — 12 Jun 2011
Boy, is the script a mess. Luckily, Ryan Gosling and Kevin Spacey are good in their roles, but they are far from the top of their crafts. I really like Martin Donovan, too, so it is nice seeing him in here.
Michelle Williams and Don Cheadle aren't used effectively. There are some emotional bits and wry moments of brilliance, but overall, this is teen angst-filled, overdirected mediocrity.
