Review of The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent (2022) by Calvincrack — 24 Apr 2022
This missed the mark for me. That’s coming from a someone who has seen The Wicker Man 15 times precisely because it’s a bad Nick Cage movie. This film doesn’t start great and doesn’t have a great middle and I was totally checked out by the time the third act began and considered walking out but figured it couldn’t be much longer.
The problem is that it does not have enough ideas. The premise is great but it devolves quickly into cliches… and not the good kind you’d expect from a satirical type movie, rather the type of cliches a script relies on when it doesn’t have enough ideas to float a story.
The result is a movie with a lot of potential that feels half baked.
