Review of The Ultimate Gift (2007) by Sv G — 04 Mar 2008
A young wealthy yet troubled man (Drew Fuller) stands to inherit his uncle's (James Garner) vast fortune, but not before completing a list of life learning tasks that is to lead him to that 'ultimate gift'.
He happens along his journey to meet and befriend a young girl who is dying played by Abigail Breslin (Little Miss Sunshine) and her mother. Despite the well meaning intentions of this movie and it's stellar cast, I found it to be much more on the level of a made-for-tv film, more than a little preachy & practically passed a collection plate right through my tv screen! It was also a little too 'packaged' for my taste selling "The Ultimate Gift" home planner, a pitch for Legacy (charitable estate planning) & other such items on it's special features, BUT never-the-less still enjoyable and with much redeeming value & one that is most certainly intended as a family movie.
