Very rarely are we taken for a journey the way we are with Jason Stevens in "The Ultimate Gift". What this film successfully accomplishes is a character arch that is surprisingly extreme. We follow along cursing him, and rooting for him all at the same time.
Breslin's performance is nothing short of Fanning in "I Am Sam" - she is as heartbreakingly cute as ever.
