Review of The Ultimate Gift (2007) by Nick H — 09 Nov 2011
It's amazing that so many "knowledgeable" critics picked up on ONE line from the movie about there being a worship center at Emily's House, took the overall theme about how one person can change the world, and other movies from this production company to form their opinions while ignoring over 110 minutes of other content. Then, in their own words say, "...I do embrace religion, but I think they have to be better than this."-Richard Roeper, "...it preaches a simplistic 'prosperity gospel.'"-Susan Granger, "Christian charity..."-unnamed Boston Globe critic, "The Ultimate Gift is kind of like a feel-good Saw for churchgoers, minus the sadistic games of death."-Gregory Kirschling, "Spoiled, vapid rich boy gets religion."-Cynthia Fuchs, just to pick a few.
The movie does not discuss religion (but it also does not assault the viewer with sex, drugs, swearing, etc) and somehow this group of self righteous "know-it-alls" who apparently can stay awake to the end of a movie (although based on their opinions listed below it is doubtful it happened in this case) and can eat popcorn let their prejudicial opinions dictate their recommendations to people and likely turned movie goers away. Epic FAIL for a majorities of the reviews, specially since 85% of the average unpaid people liked it compared to 33% of the paid people.
