Review of The Ugly Truth (2009) by Vincent C — 07 Sep 2011
I'm still having a hard time believing I sat through this movie. Now, it's not the worst movie ever or anything like that, but it is a failure. Where to begin? Oh yes, Katherine Heigl is a terrible actress who ruins ever movie she is in. Yes, she is attractive, but I would say she is one of the worst actresses of the past couple of years. I actually like Gerard Butler in this movie, but he can't save it because the jokes that are in this movie aren't funny and they make the movie almost unbearable.
What makes the movie worse is that none of the characters in this movie are likable. They are all annoying and do nothing to help move the movie along. The story is also quite stupid and probably the most predictable thing I've seen. Heigl plays a television producer who needs to boost the network's rating and so the company she works for hires Butler. He has a show called "The Ugly Truth" and it gives advice about romantic relationships. Really, there is nothing new in this movie and I would highly recommend skipping it.
