Review of The Two Faces of January (2014) by Michael D — 18 May 2014
The film tells us straight off it takes place in 1962, but no such warning is necessary as I immediately felt that I was watching an old episode of 'The Saint', as rich in characterisation as that was.
In its several exotic locales I kept expecting the quizzical eyebrow of Simon Templar questioning how such undemanding fare has become the current darling of the independent circuit. Just another example of the paucity of interest out there in terms of alternative film nowadays.
See also 'Calvary' which, bless me, seems to be doing remarkably well for such a trivial piece of blarney.
