Review of The Two Faces of January (2014) by Nigel W — 21 May 2014
Set in the Mediterranean 1962, The Two Faces of January is a solid understated thriller with first class performances. Its a throwback to the less frenetic offerings of the past and draws a fleeting comparison to Hitchcock, with Mortensen impeccably dressed in white suit and tie.
As the plot thickens, all three characters are drawn into a relationship from which none of them can back down. But with the obligatory net closing in there was just one thing missing; a good enough reason to care about the outcome.
