Review of The Two Faces of January (2014) by Claire M — 26 May 2014
Old style film in cream suits. Runs like a 1960's version of a Bourne film- nice retro feel and cinematography gives it an authenticity. decent performance from the love-triangle at the centre. Nice styling and locations.
But there is no edge to the story- it's like we are back in the 1960's altogether, with none of the pyschological insights of the last 50 years. And so the film passes, and leaves you wondering why any of the characters acted as they did. And then you find you do not much care if you don't find out. Not a lot to talk about with this one, but a well-made film that entertains if you like your entertainment superficial and saccharine .
