Review of The Two Faces of January (2014) by Graham L — 01 Jun 2014
Stylish thriller set in the 1960's is the intriguing story of murder, betrayal, two con men and a pretty lady.
Rydal (Oscar Isaac) is working as a tour guide in Athens, fleecing unsuspecting tourists and hiding from his family. He meets Chester MacFarland (Viggo Mortensen) and his wife Colette (Kirsten Dunst) and moves in to make some easy money, as he thinks they might be an easy target. Unwittingly though gets embroiled in murder and Chester's insecurity, and ends up breaking the law to help them out.
What follows is a well-crafted thriller if sometimes a little slow, but this is helping to build up the tension and character development. Excellent acting, great scenery and another reason why Oscar Isaac is looking like star for the future.
