Review of The Two Faces of January (2014) by Matthew F. J — 03 Mar 2015
First time director Hoseein Amini, a famous and long lasting screenwriter, manages to deliver a very beautiful film. Greatly adapted from the original novel by Patricia Highsmith, we follow a couple visiting Athens in 1962 and their encounter with an American tour guide who will soon become a valuable ally in their journey through the Greek country.
Tensed and sleek, the film is beautifully shot in a great choice of colors and sepia colors that gives the film a certain old fashion style very interesting. The cast is excellent and both Isaac and Mortensen manage to pull out some very good performances. A good and solid thriller.
