Review of The Twilight Saga: New Moon (2009) by Peyton V — 13 Aug 2012
'New Moon' is little more than a skilful soap opera, but it's still enjoyable escapism - even if you're old and wise enough to see through it but it also offers few of the juicy, go-for-broke romantic pleasures of its predecessor, and the movie is so badly shaped that it's hard not to blame Weitz as a director, that's not to say it's a bad movie, it is a tad better than Twilight but then again it as it's same flaws.
The film itself is really beautiful, with amazing shots to show the beauty of (At least I assume) from the book. The acting is slightly better, though Kristen Stewart is playing the role fine, still seems to unprovided some scenes with acting and plays this really awkward boring character.
The introduction of Jacob (Though he was briefly in the first film) played by Taylor Lautner is probably the best thing about the film. The special effects are again simply and not over the top and the film is really moody, which does add to the darkness that is usually hit and miss.
If you've read the books, you'll love it, but for me, it does drag with more cheesy lines than the first, doesn't stop this from becoming a box office hit. It was a good watch but there are alot of films that are better but this wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.
Worth a look, if nothing else.
