The governing body of the vampire world wants her dead or turned, and they might show up in her town at any moment (endangering her "friends" and family). The treaty between the local shape shifter pack and resident vampire coven is getting more strained and blood could be shed.

She's graduating high school, and has been accepted to college.

Her century old, but selfish, mentally imature and emotionally stunted boyfriend is trying to stall her turning for his own sake. Because he, arrogantly, believes he can outsmart the Volturi AKA the governing body of the vampire world (endangering his girlfirend, his family and the people of the town in the process).

Her best friend and her boyfriend keep aggravating each other, because said shape shifter is nursing a big crush on her awkward, manipulative, co-dependant, clumsy self.

Oh, and there's a vampire army of newborn's terrorizing Seattle (also drawing the attention of the Volturi), gearing up to attack her and the vampire coven, so they can feast on the town undisturbed.

These newborns used to be regular humans living their own lives, until they were taken to be used as cannon fodder, while Victoria kills her.

Her friends, family and the citizens of her town are all in danger of being eaten or turned by vampires.

Once the vampire army is dealt with, she will be turned into a vampire wanting nothing more than blood. She can never see her devoted parents or her "friends" again, because they'll notice the change, and she'll want nothing more than to eat them.

Bella Swan's biggest concern...?

MARRIAGE!

That's right. Her century old, selfish, arrogant, mentally imature and emotionally stunted boyfriend has the audacity to propose marriage. Which she is deeply opposed to. However, she agrees in the end, because then her vampire boyfriend will change her into a vampire himself (instead of having his sire do it) and - more importantly - he'll try (emphasis on try, because his super strength and her potent blood can make him loose control and seriously injure or kill her, but you know - meh) to have sex with her before he turns her.

At least this movie has some action, and I liked Bree Tanner. However, in true Meyer fashion she fucks up the characters with most potential (exhibit A: Jacob). In this one, Meyer just kills her off.

Fun fact: In the scene the Volturi kills Bree, because she has risked exposing the vampire race to the humans, and violating the laws of the Volturi. Despite the fact that Bree was unaware of these laws, Jane of the Volturi still gives the kill order, because: "The Volturi don't give second chances".

Meanwhile, Bella is standing right there, still human. Despite the fact that, when she, Edward and Alice where in Volterra, the Volturi leaders warned them to change her soon, because the Volturi don't give second chances. Apparently "no second chances" only apply to the uneducated members of their own race, not aspiringhuman wannabees.
