Review of The Twilight Saga: Eclipse (2010) by Manon M — 01 Dec 2012
I was quite surprised how decent the third film actually is. It is pretty much as good as Twilight (or even slightly better thanks to its humor...) and thankfully not as screamingly awful as New Moon. There is the usual "I am so in love with you it hurts" stuff and dramatic atmosophere in the character's eyes but overall, the whole style of this film is definitely more confident than in New Moon.
While New Moon was filled with annoying teenage suicide attemps and heartache, Eclipse eventually grows serious feelings. I liked the fact how the characters actually "grew" and it is the first time ever that I saw in Edward something I could actually relate to.
The film even has some funny lines that are, not as in New Moon stupidly funny, but truly amusing. I have to admit, I missed that funny stuff in the first film. It actually gives the whole concept a stronger balance.
Eclipse has some seriously efficient moments and is at its best quite exciting. The action sequences are pretty much amazing and totally catchy. Tho Eclipse may never play in the league of greatest films ever, it surely does its job.
It entertains with a good balance of drama, action and self-referential humor, that by the way I absolutely loved, and I guess fans of the series will be prefectly happy with this third film. Last but not least, my favourite quote in this film: "Let's face it, I am hotter than you!" Seriously guys, you NEED to see that scene it makes you break into tears out of laughter, in a good way.
