Review of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1 (2011) by Misleny D — 20 Jan 2013
No big deal, the new chapter of the vampire saga who seems to atract lots of peole. Despite the fact that the movie was actually an important chapter of the saga, it just doesn't bring anything new. It was better than the previous chapter (Eclipse) and probably better than New Moon, but I still didn't like it that much. I never loved the Twilight Saga but I have always watched every chapter for some reason, all of the movies never change. Twilight fans don't have to watch it, they already know that they are going to love it, but whathever, accept the world. No big deal, watch it if you want, but you'll just be watching a new chapter of Twilight again with the same cliches, Bella is dating Edward but she still thinks that kissing Jacob everytime she sees him is okay (Those kinds of cliches) and also, the long and stupid speech at the beginning, bla, bla, bla. I say it again, no big deal.
Bill Condon is the guy who directs this movie, who knew, a director who won an Oscar directs a new chapter of the Twilight saga. Kriten Bell takes the lead role, she does have some talent, but she was never fantastic in these movies, she always makes that long speech that we don't understand a word of a t the beginning of each movie, but she at least smiled a bit more in here, in the previous movies she only knew to do that anoying face, she was okay here, that's all, Kristen is known from the upcoming movie, The Snow White and the Huntsman, she is also known from Twilight, The Twilight Saga: New Moon, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse and some other movies. Robert Pattinson is just okay, no big deal, Robert is known from Water for Elephants, Remember Me, Twilight, The Twilight Saga: New Moon, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse and some other movies. Taylor Lautner is no big deal as well, but girls love him and say that his acting is amazing, it seems that he only knows how to take his shirt off, at the beginning of the movie he takes his shirt off and in the previous movies he does that too, that's not acting it all, Taylor is known from Abdunction, Twilight, The Twilight Saga: New Moon, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse and some other movies. Billy Burke was always one of the best characters in the Twilight movies, he's funny and he has a good perfomance, Billy is known from Twilight, The Twilight Saga: New Moon, the Twilight Saga: Eclipse and some other movies. Sow, as you can see, this is just the basic cast of all the Twilight movies, is not amazing, it's just okay, there's no amazing or memorable perfomances.
Bella (Kristen Stewart) and Edward (Robert Pattinson) have just got married. They both went to Rio in Brazil to spend their honey-moon together in an island with a beautiful house. They have a good first night in there, they had sex together for the first time. Some fun days after that, Bella gets pregnant of a baby vampire. The fetus is not compatible to her body and it's crushing her inside and it's also growing really fast and Bella might not survive, the Cullen's decide that they will might transformer into a vampire in the birth of the child. But her pregnancy will also make the Wolf Pack start planning to kill her.(What I thought about the plot) I actually found this plot to be interesting, finally there wasn't any love between Bella, Edward and Jacob, this plot was diferent and it was better written than some of the other previous Twilight chapters plots, the plot was good as I said, but it didn't work again. In this movie, I didn't felt the same that I felt with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows- Part 1, I didn't thought that the plot really seemed broken in two, that's a good thing, but they just broke scripts in a half and make two movies about it just to get some more money, they actually recieve the x2 of what they would recieve if they did a movie with the entir plot and then the saga would be over.
Soundtrack, well, this movie's soundtrack was finally diferent, I mean, a bit diferent, in the previous chapter there was only some Muse and some girly songs that I just hated and in this movie, there was also one or two songs of that type, but they still did some themes, I didn't appreciated them that much, but at least we're not constantly hearing those anoying songs. The CGI effects were really good, I'm not talking about the wolves, that were well made too, I'm talking about how good (Not good, I should say, how real) Kristen looked, in this movie she has to look bad and here she was really beyond that, I got speachless. The action in this movie is always cool to watch, I mean, guys, you know what I'm talking about, after watching a half hour of Bella saying that she loves Edward and then seing her hugging Jacob like he was her boyfriend, it tastes good to watch a bit of action, but in this movie, there's no Eclipse kind of action, there's only 5 minutes of action, and bad action by the way, I didn't like Eclipse that much, but I'm sure that eclipse was the best action movie in the Twilight series, this one didn't had it, but I wish there was, like some other people, oh, I'm sorry, other men.
Besides all that, I am now going to tell you what I really thought about this movie. First of all, at the beginning, I actually saw some light, I was surprisinly not hating the movie, I wasn't being tottally bored, but it was just a matter of time until I forget that, this movie's badness camed back, but not entirely, I got to say that this movie wasn't so bad like I thought, but still not amazing, I liked the first, it was probably the best of the series (Besides the romance, wich I don't care about), the second was just bad, a bit worse than the first, the third was surprisingly bad, it looked good, I loved the action, but I was bored again, but the action was okay, this movie was probably the second best movie of the franchise, even though it wasn't amazing or even good. This movie didn't seem long, for a half plot movie it wasn't entirely awful, it had the beginning, a half of development and a sort of ending soon-to-be-contineud, the upcoming movie has the rest of the development and the ultimat ending, this movie did gave me interest on watching the next chapter, wich was a good thing from them. Honestly, in a scale of 1 to 10, I would give this movie a 4, but if I could give halfs in IMDb, I would rate this movie 4.5, wich means that in a scale of 1 to 5, I give this movie two and a half half stars (Half of a half star), wich is impossible, but I think that the movie deserves that little credit and I was honesly almost giving a two and a half to this movie, but look, I take my ratings seriously and I still think that this is not an awful movie, just acceptable and almost reaching the mediocre spot. Overall, this movie is probably the second best movie of the series, but it's still not fantastic, but it's still not entirely awful, it has an acceptable cast, a fine plot, good CGI effects and it's just entertaining for a few minutes. Is it worth watching it in theatres? Probably not. Is it worth buying it? Probably not. Is it worth watching it in rental? Well, only if it's not to expensive, because this movies that we would only watch when it gets to TV, exept for Twilight fans, who go watch it five seconds after it came to theatres. Mediocre.
Mediocre movie. Not that recommended movie. Grade: D.
