Review of The TV Set (2007) by Marcus1138 . — 10 Sep 2007
"But you've never seen "Taxi Driver"! ".
.....................
This movie is a lesson in frustration.
The stupidity in American TV production is no stranger to movies but this one just fucking goes for the jugular. You sit there with a mixture of embarassment and just plain cover your face cringing.
The cast shine here. Duchovny kicks ass as per usual. Tom from lost is quirky greatness "Fucking sun" and Sigourney is just having a blast and is laugh out loud funny ALL THE TIME.
It felt maybe a little like a tv show. Now whether thats good as tv is so movie like nowadays or bad, because it got it's genre mixed up is up to you. But the TV set is a fine shot at the process of coming up with most of the half assedbullcra we have to endure before finding a genuinly great show out there. You get the why's and how's and the back downs and no way outs. It's fun and nasty all the same time and even though it was a little all over the place with a few too many plot threads this is just plain off beat fun. Highly recommended even though it's not exactly a classic.
