Review of The TV Set (2007) by Julian A — 22 Sep 2007
I didn't particularly find this satire funny, but I did find it poigniant. I liked the films ideas more than the actual film and for what it was, its ideas were carried out rather well, with some good performances by Duchovny, Weaver, Gruffudd and Greer.
It doesn't really present anything we don't know about TV sitcoms and how their scripts become butchered, but it makes some good points and is worth a watch, at least for the big mainstream crowd that likes the usual crap on t.
V. The only problem is, this is an independent film geared toward a crowd that's already well aware of the crap on TV and doesn't watch the crap shows. Someone that is watching Friends on a regular basis is not likely to go out and watch this movie.
