Review of The TV Set (2007) by Nick L — 18 Dec 2007
A sharp attack on the television industry and the way pilots are mercilessly transformed into something marketable. The movie occasionally focuses on characters' home life, which distracts from the satirical nature of the underlining plot.
Duchovny is well-cast as the creator of the pilot, but Weaver is absolutely ruthless as a tv exec who has a specific vision that is drastically different from the creator's. It's pretty dreary and cynical, but it's certainly funny as well.
