Review of The TV Set (2007) by Jon W — 03 Aug 2008
Different than what I had pictured in my head after I first saw the trailer... not great, but not altogether bad, either. Great cast - why, oh why does Judy Greer not have her own show? Oh wait, she did, but they CANCELLED it.
Interesting in that you get to follow a Pilot from casting to gettign picked up. You just kind of feel bad for Duchovny, which I guess is the point - you are watching his hard work/vision getting chewed up and spit back out again by executives.
The sad thing is, "Slut Wars" is not far off (see also "MILF Island" on 30 Rock)... it's shows like that that don't even give great scripted shows like "The Wexler Chronicles" (or, if you are going for actual shows, try Miss Guided [yep, Greer's show], or even Freaks and Geeks.
.. you know you loved it) a chance.
