Review of The Tuxedo (2002) by Phil P — 04 Nov 2012
"Jimmy, I hate to say this, but don't take advice from women about women.".
Another weird comedy from 'Jackie Chan', which is irritating because I like him, the 'Rush Hour' movies have a charm to them and films like 'Shinjuku Incident' show he can do serious stuff too.
This film centers on 'Jackie Chan' as he accidentally becomes a spy donning a suite from his bosses room. Then the usual he goes a long with him being his boss, works for cia or whatever it is - then gets found out leaves but comes back to save 'the girl'. It's a typical kid-friendly cheesy story-line, occasionally these work but more often than not bomb, which this does.
Once again 'Chan' saves this film from being a total failure, his fights a well choreographed and as always funny with various items around the room used in the fights. In fact the humour whether intended or not isn't half bad, it kept me relatively interested.
Ultimately 'Tuxedo' is a bad film with a slightly interesting premise of a suit that can create the ultimate spy. However, Jackie Chan does bring a comedic element at times that make it watchable.
