Review of The Truman Show (1998) by Tony R — 15 Dec 2012
An original concept that had a LOT of potential, most of which was used to its full potential. Jim Carey has a good balance of light-hearted humor and serious determination, and the rest of the performances are somewhat decent, but it's appropriate since they're all actors acting as actors.
Finally, The Truman Show pokes fun at America's insatiable appetite for reality TV, and there seems something morbidly wrong with the whole concept of a "truman show," It feels like this is the direction we could be heading in, since there are already shows like 'big brother' which focus around people living in a house with their every move being broadcast to the world (24/7 if you watch BB After Dark).
