Review of The Trouble with Harry (1955) by Mitchell Y — 18 Jul 2007
Hitchcock takes a foray into small-town drama. This is the most un-Hitchcocklike film - a pseudo-comedy with some suspense elements mixed in. There are some great character performances and Hitchcock tries to paint a complete picture of small town life, but he's really more comfortable when there's a big secret or payoff that he's dancing around.
Here, he ambles and dawdles and it really slows down in the middle act.
