Review of The Trotsky (2010) by Stephanie L — 19 May 2010
Sort of mixed feelings about this film. Jay of course is great as the Trotsky wannabe and his deliveries are pitch perfect as always and it is an interesting concept. But that being said seems to get a little predictable and fall into the formulaic high school drama/comedy trappings and doesnt neccessarily add anything new.
And also, with it being a Canadian production has a couple of the normal trappings of being very local and not enough cross over power to attract a larger audience outside of Jay fans who are tracking down more of his work after finally having his breakout year with Dragon, Shes out of my League and Sorcerrors Apprentice.
Can't help but wonder if this was on the shelf for a while and released while his star was rising.
