Review of The Trotsky (2010) by Moore S — 25 May 2010
I'm just happy to see Jay Baruchel playing a role that suits him the best. Seriously, after so many movies with him since the Apatow's "Superbad" and "Knocked Up" I started getting really annoyed by him.
Nonetheless, it's a good movie with a very original plot. A huge plus that it was shot in MONTREAL! Colm Feore's performance was quite something and even the supporting characters got me entertained.
Also, a lot of interesting trivia is related to this movie. First of all, Jay Baruchel's sister, Taylor, who was born and raised in Montreal, played in this movie as her brother's friend and supporter.
Second of all, she shares a birthday with an actual Leon Trotsky. Third of all, I guess Jacob Tierney liked to shoot political movies with Jay Baruchel in Montreal that much that there's gonna be a movie named "Good neighbours" coming out sometime in 2011 directed by him, starring Jay Baruchel about the infamous 1995 Quebec Referendum.
I'm definitely going to see that one. Got carried away.. So as for "The Trotsky", it's kinda amazing how a movie without anything special standing out still can be a very good movie to watch.
