Review of The Triplets of Belleville (2003) by Bach P — 19 Jan 2009
"The Triplets of Belleville" is perhaps one of the most curious animated films I have ever seen. I dare not describe the film, because any detail would only ruin your experience. The film leaps and frolics from one scene to the next leaving you completely unsure of whats to come.
The visual style is completely haunting, yet somehow lovable at the same time. A unique soundtrack maintains the curious vibe and plays a vital role in the action. This is one slow pace film that climaxes at a crawl, but it's unpredictability keeps your attention from beginning to end.
I wanted to turn it off at many points early on, but something kept telling me to watch, and watch I did. No regrets here.
