Review of The Triplets of Belleville (2003) by Leighton T — 08 Nov 2010
Chomet gives us something that is unique, humorous, musically addictive and basically a silent film. The visuals, the images are a strange type of animation; it's rough around the edges, with strange shapes of people, boats, shoes, bikes, cars, calf muscles, etc, and thus we are taken by it.
The creativity with which the story is approached is not unlike Pixar, but that it comes with a European sensibility makes it all the more striking and vivid. It is meticulously crafted.
