Review of The Trip to Italy (2014) by Reini U — 06 Sep 2014
This simple BBC TV series by Michael Winterbottom made it into an arthouse movie now. The two main characters, the famous Winterbottom actor Steve Coogan and his friend, top-surgeon and wannabe actor Bob Brydon are visiting scenic Italy for a couple of restaurant reviews and chasing after stories of Shelley and Lord Byron there.
Bob Brydon is constantly enjoying himself outplaying Steve Coogan in all regards, mainly impersonating other actors. This makes a very entertaining true story, even more so as one big film. The only problem I foresee is that Bob Brydon is really a comedian and actor, it would have worked much better if he would have been played by a normal guy.
