Review of The Trip to Italy (2014) by Robert H — 29 Jan 2015
The Trip to Italy is a sequel that doesn't fall far from the tree...which isn't all that bad here. We are still riding along with Coogan and Brydon, playing trumped up and self-absorbed versions of themselves, as they travel the country, eat amazing food and try to out joke each other.
Luckily, Winterbottom seems to have a firmer grasp of the tone here, capturing the philosophy and comedy with better assurance. If you can look past the bit of confused emotion and laugh AT the despicable leads, this will be a trip worth taking.
