Review of The Trip to Italy (2014) by Gary M — 05 Sep 2014
"Largely improvised" accounts for the clear lack of adult supervision in this film, but it doesn't begin to explain the desperate reach for laughs Brydon and Coogan try to extract--apparently from each other, since they failed to inspire me--in otherwise idyllic scenes and situations.
I give Winterbottom credit for a good eye with camera positioning and food lighting (or should that go to the DP?) but this road trip was a waste of gas and time.
