Review of The Trip (2011) by Ross M — 11 Jul 2011
This is a very interesting comedy from micheal winterbottom. Essentialy there are two main performers here in Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon. I've come to the conclusion that brydon is funnier than coogan at least in this film.
Alot of people have seen clips from this online already because it's been edited down from the tv show it comes from. One clip in particular is their Micheal Caine impersonation which is just priceless.
They both sound very much like the great british actor. These two have a banter and are always trying to outdo each other. Coogan seems to be very lonely and insecure and Brydon is happy and has a rather more stable home life than does coogan.
The scenes in the car are very well done if a little repetitive. The looks they give each other when they eat the different meals on their food trip are also priceless. Meals that they are given are very wacky and sparse.
Another interesting and funny film from Micheal Winterbottom.
