Review of The Tribe (2016) by Mayukh B — 24 Apr 2015
The foreshadowing nature of the Ukraine crisis looms like a dead Heath Ledger in this art film. The choice to not give us a translation for the sign language seems a bit alienating to its subjects. It definitely adds to the hopelessness in the film's tone.
But considering there are some viewers who would be able to understand the dialogue In the film I think it was an artistic error, an error that makes me uncomfortable in a relevant way.
