Review of The Tree of Life (2011) by Bill P — 01 Dec 2012
More than most similar films, The Tree of Life requires (intentionally or not) you to choose what to make of it...if you stay with it, a choice that takes some patience, an opening of the mind, and a loosening of expectation, there is within the magnificent imagery, a chance to return to unfinished pasts.
..rumination is almost out of vogue these days, and it is refreshing for a filmmaker to ask an audience to remain entranced when doing so has be so challenged by modern technology and our near useless attempts to break from its gravity.
A difficult film to be fully satisfied by, I loved being where I allowed myself to go while in it.
