Review of The Tree of Life (2011) by Matthew B — 20 Dec 2015

With such a strong title, and well known cast, I had high hopes for this movie, but it simply wasn't meant to be. Over two hours long, 'Tree of Life' was confusing and difficult to follow. The film relied heavily upon it's cinematography, but after a 30 minute Big Bang sequence, including everything from the creation of the earth, to the meteor that killed the dinosaurs, it began to feel more like a silent documentary, and not a feature film.

The actors had very little dialogue between one another, and was narrated by whispering voices all leading up to a very cliche 'dressed in all white heavenly afterlife' ending. This is definitely one movie I'd recommend skipping.
