Beatifully shot with gorgeous cinematography and top notch acting especially from Chastain and Pitt, "The tree of life" is a grand/small scale rumination on the existential struggle. I appreciate the films refusal to cater to the traditional model of storytelling, and the way Malick uses visuals instead of dialogue or plotline in order to communicate the films main theme.

However, I just found this movie a bit too pretentious and frankly boring in its execution.
