Review of The Tree of Life (2011) by Will T — 20 Nov 2012
It's the most beautiful and philosophical movie I've ever seen. That being said, I don't think it explores it's themes enough or at least not obviously. It might bore some people with the cosmic imagery and quiet nature montages.
As a Malick fan, it's great. To the casual viewer, it's terrible. The ending though was so ambiguous that the movie feels like a big waste of time in the end. But if you can look back and appreciate the amazing cinematography and metaphorical cutaways you can appreciate it.
