Review of The Tree of Life (2011) by Enrique R — 07 Jan 2013
One of my all time favorite films. There is nothing mainstream or conventional about this movie. It's a work of art more than anything. It has no "real" plot and the entire film spans from the birth of the Universe to the destruction of Earth and life.
It deals with ideas such as morality, love, death, good/evil, forgiveness, conflicting perspectives of the world, and existentialism. Some have said it is a religious movie, I do not think that it is.
There are extended sequences in which no dialogue is even spoken aside from a few whispers. It's an extremely profound movie and experience. The visuals, acting, and music are all amazing. That being said though, it's definitely not a movie everyone will enjoy or appreciate.
