A mesmerizing, cathartic rustling of the summer leaves, straight from the sun-baked, wistful glimpses of your childhood, presented through the eyes of that former version of yourself. Say what you will about Terrence Malick, but "The Tree of Life" probably would have never worked if it wasn't the most pretentious movie ever made.
