Review of The Tree of Life (2011) by Robert M — 29 Nov 2013
Tensions flare as intentional aggravations are revealed to be defining moments for a middle class family. The meandering storyline (told in flashbacks) is often interrupted by artsy, but breathtakingly beautiful, HD cinematography which represents emotional journeys.
These scenes could have been used as opening or closing montages for any film - but are stacked throughout this movie to lend an air of timelessness to memory. I was 3/4 through this film before I recognized the main plot had begun.
