Review of The Tree of Life (2011) by Sean W — 19 Jul 2014
First off, this movie is not for everyone. It's focus is not on the plot or any specific problem but on the beauty of life and the reasoning behind God's decisions. Now that that's out of the way, this movie successfully captures the meaning of life.
It's undeniably beautiful, thematically overpowering, and the scenes that do have actual actors in the frame are well acted. Being emotionally moved within the first 5 minutes is a distinct possibility.
It will shock you with moments of compassion, rebellion, discord, and harmony, but only if you let it.
