Review of The Tree of Life (2011) by Seb M — 23 Sep 2012
Im not sure whether it all comes together and coheres. its baffling, beautiful and frustrating all at the same time. a cinematic eruption rife with the visual poetry that has characterised malicks work.
This is his magnum opus. It took him 5 films over 40 years, but it was well worth the wait. An early contender for best film of the decade, and confirmation that personal filmmaking can reach the universal.
