Review of The Tree of Life (2011) by Sean P — 26 May 2014
The reason this film is more divisive than Malick's other films is because it's the only one most people have heard of. If you've watched Days of Heaven or Badlands, you knew something like this would be made eventually, especially combined with the fact that Malick is a Martin Heidegger scholar (and possibly a closet Christian -- both of which seem to affect this film).
Nonetheless, I believe this to be Malick's most mature film to date, and, by far his most unique.
