Review of The Tree of Life (2011) by Sumit S — 13 Feb 2013
Thought provoking, philosophical, complex, symbolic, & visually captivating throughout its runtime, The Tree of Life is definitely not for all viewers, but for those who can patiently connect with it, it'll turn out to be a rewarding & visually spellbinding experience for them.
The Tree of Life follows the journey of the eldest son of the O'Brien family & follows his conflict with the two ways of life that each of his parents represent, as well as him questioning the purpose of life & the existence of faith, with the film also portraying the evolution of universe as well as the birth & end of life on Earth.
The only downfall, in my opinion, is its ending. Overall, The Tree of Life is an ambitious work by Terrence Malick, filmed in such an exquisite manner that each frame is a work of breathtaking art.
