Review of The Tree (2010) by Dawn A — 14 Jul 2011
First two comments; as we approached the ticket booth there was a disclaimer posted, to the effect, that if we didn't like the movie, there would be no refund. This was a first in my many years of attending movies. My second comment is that due to leaving a happy hour late, we missed the first fifteen minutes of the movie. Don't know if that made a difference or not.
Yet the movie to me was a winner by meeting two criteria.
Some screenwriters see their challenge as a writer, is to be able to create a movie that can entertain an audience throughout the length of the feature. The Tree of life did this in my opinion by cinematography, music, and excellent execution by Brad Pitt and the rest of the cast.
A second criteria, is too quote Mike Carroll, author of NAKED FILMMAKING; "use film to connect with audience on an emotional level and get the wheels of their mind turning so that after the movie was over the characters would continue to live on in their imagination".
But, remember, no refunds.
