Review of The Treasure of the Sierra Madre (1948) by Adrian M — 27 Apr 2008
The true test of a great film is its transcendence of time, a film does not truly become great unless it can be just as good as it was at least ten years after it was released. Treasure Of The Sierra Madre is sixty years old and is still extremely watchable and enjoyable.
There are only a couple of scenes that have to do with the resolution of a couple of key characters that kind of takes you out of the picture. This movie belongs really to Humphrey Bogart and Walter Huston, especially Bogart who plays one of the weakest minded characters in film history a real paranoid asshole.
