Review of The Treasure of the Sierra Madre (1948) by Julian M — 02 May 2008
I love Walter Huston's voice. I can listen to it all day. And I can listen to his son John Huston's as well.
But one Huston is enough for me onscreen, as Huston the younger takes up most of his time behind the camera to direct this awesome movie about a guy that essentially becomes insane by greed.
This might as well have been called "The Curse of the Sierra Madre", because it's not so much about the treasure itself, as much as it is about Humphrey Bogart's character's reaction to it.
Kind of like how "There Will Be Blood" is not about oil at all, but about a guy that sounds like Walter Huston becoming a sociopath and drinking milkshakes (apparently).
