Review of The Treasure of the Sierra Madre (1948) by Ryan B — 18 Jun 2012
Wonderful John Huston effort that looks at Americans out of America and out of their depth, not dealing with Mexico or gold prospecting but with themselves and each other. Bogart is astonishing as Dobbs who's disintegration is perfectly pitched, with Oscar winner Walter Huston wonderful as Howard.
Essentially the blackest of black comedies, and a Western with a noir heart.
